David Yee (Award
Recipient) David Yee is a playwright, actor and Artistic Associate with
fu-GEN Theatre Company. His plays have been produced in Toronto, Ottawa,
Manhattan and recemtly New Zealand. He attended the Theatre and Drama Studies
joint program at the U of T/Sheridan College, and is currently developing new
work with Factory Theatre. |

Judith Christine Mills (Award
Recipient) Born in Middleton, Yorkshire, England, J.C. Mills immigrated
to Toronto as a young child. The arrical of her son in 1992 renewed her
interest in children's literature. Some of her novels include The Goodfellow
Chronicles trilogy (nominated for hte Red Maple Award), The Strage Voyage of
the Raconteur and newly published Carew. Honours inclide the Smithsonian
Notable Book Award and CBC Radio Best Books. |

Jon Garcia (Award
Recipient) A recent graduate of Sheridan College's Media Arts program,
Jon Garcia's narrative and experimental short films have been screened at a
number of festivals, such as the Niagara Indie Film Festival, Montreal World
Rilm Festival and the 48-Hour Toronto Film Challenge; where he was recently
awarded the Audience Choice Award. |

Katarzyna Kochany, BFA
(Finalist) Goal: to direct family entertainment. Dream project: Western.
Grad: York University film school, Media Workshops (L.A.), Sheridan College
animation courses; shadowed directors on Doc; Sue Thomas, F.B. Eye and Zoe
Busiek: Wild Card. Directing workshops: George Bloomfield (Toronto), Lilyan
Chauvin (L.A.) Award-winning short The Snowman screened at over 20 festivals
worldwide. |

Kareem Byfield (Finalist)
At 22 years old, Kareem Byfield is the youngest Hip Hop dance company
owner in Mississauga. Equipped with comprehensive and multi-disciplinary dance
training, Kareem has been teaching his students to embrace dance for the past 7
years. He is continually using his choreography to express the importance of
embracing dance instead of violence. |

Jennie Laws (Award
Recipient) Born and raised in Mississauga, Ontario, Jennie Laws is an
artist of many dimensions. SInger,composer, arrange, producer, pianist and
guitarist, Jennie is as diverse in her talents as she is with the styles of
music she expresses. Jennie attended Phil Mattson's School for Music Vocations,
Iowa and Berklee College of Music in Boston. |

Austin MacDonald (Finalist)
Comfortable in front of a camera from an early age, Austin has
progressed from print modeling and TV commercials, to small roles in TV series
such as Doodlebops, Regensis and the pilot for MVP. He is taking classes in
dance and voice, as well as working with established acting coaches. In 2006,
he worked on feature film Jack Brooks Monster Slayer

Bozidar Vitkovic (Award
Recipient) Bozidar is a classical and flamenco guitarist, who crosses
over into popular music. Born in Yugoslavia, Bozidar moved to Canada in 1976.
He began playing the clasical guitar at the age of 9 and has performed
extensively throughout the world. Bozidar has performed with artists such as
Nana Mouskouri, Liberace, Peter Ustinov, Maria Torres and Oscar Peterson. |

Meadowvale Music Theatre
(Finalist) Meadowvale Music Theatre was established in 1984 and has
presented musical theatre productions as part of Music Theatre Mississauga's
Encore Series since 1994. Whether in performance, design, production or
administration, Meadowvale Music Theatre prides itself on fostering an
atmosphere of learning, growth and friendship to all members of the
community. |

Meadowvale Youth Theatre (Award
Recipient) MYT was founded in 1990 by Michael Harding and Anthony
Bastianon to provide young artists the opportunity to explore multiple aspects
of theatre. Group leaders are seasoned professionals experienced in both
theatre and education. Ninety-five active members participate in annual
productions (one-act festival, musical, variety show), summer camp, and/or
workshops. |

Grupo de Danza Folklorica Viva
Mexico (Finalist) "Viva Mexico" has been representing Mexican Folklore
in Toronto for 7 years. Their purpose is to integrate young Mexicans and young
Canadians of Mexican and Latin-American background to show the world what
Mexico is all about in terms of culture and traditions. They perform difference
dance styles representing the rich folklore of the regions of Mexico. |

Stephen Paul Fulton
(Award Recipient) Fulton has been living in Mississauga for the past 11
years where he has been engaged int he development of his visual arts practice.
He paints on collage to produce synergetic compositions that fold all the
world's cultures, peoples, animals and landmarks into one condensed landscape.
Paul uses his art to help convey notions of our connections to all living
things. |

Dave Kang
(Finalist) Raised by the love of Mississauga, Dave Kang is a concept
artist, breating life into the script, visualizing the ideas, and conveying the
style and meaning of the project in the pre-production stage of games and
films. Kang;s ultimate goal is to be creative and fantastic with character
designing while bringing out the aesthetics from the good old days of
Renaissance. |

Megan Sinnett
(Finalist) Megan paints portraits of the human face. She works in
encaustic as the qualities of wax coincide with the preservation of beauty that
is eminent to beauty pageants. While studying at OCAD, Megan has shown her work
throughout Mississauga and Toronto. She hopes to eventually receive a Masters
in fine art so she can teach art at University, while maintaining a career as a
professional artist. |

Doreen Renner
(Finalist) Doreen has a Fine Art Diploma from Sheridan College, is an
elected member of Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour and Colour and
Form Society. She has served as a Director for Visual Arts Mississauga and
CSPWC. Her award winning paintings have been juried into numerous exhibitions
and are in many corporate and private collections around the world. |

Anna Yuschuk (Award
Recipient) Anna holds a MFA from Ukraine's Lviv State Academy of Fine
Art and is a former member of the Ontario Society of Artists. SHe has received
grants from the Ontario Arts Council and exhibited her paintings in public and
commercial galleries. She is represented by Ingram Gallery in Toronto. Her work
is centered around the notion of ambiguity and subtle reality that invites the
viewer to contemplative observation. |

Chuck Jackson A
lifetime resident of Mississauga, Chuck has been instrumental in
establishing the Southside Shuffle, an annual Blues Festival held in Port
Credit and currently celebrating its 8th year. The Southside Shuffle is putting
MIssissauga on the map for summer jazz and blues festival tourist traffic. His
acclaim as a musician enabled him to entice fantastic performers to the city
for this festival and his gentlemanly, professional manner makes him a
wonderful ambassdor for music in the community, enriching the lives of so many.
As an award winning lead vocalist, Chuck Jackson, has fronted many bands,
including the Downchild Blues Band and the All Stars. His music and
accomplishments go far beyond Mississauga's borders! |

Bernice Louie
Kwong
Bernice Kwong has been a resident of Mississauga, is a
renowned Chinese Canadian Artist. She was the first recipient of the
Mississauga Arts Council's "Laurie Pallett Patron of the Arts." Her awards
include: Local Hero of the City of Mississauga, Canada's 125 Medallion, Peel
Multicultural Council's Outstanding Contribution and Achievement Award, 20
Years Ontario's Volunteer Service Award. Queen Elizabeth Golden Jubilee Award
and Chinese Canadian Legend Inspiration Award. Bernice assisted in fundraising
for the opening of the LAC and was involved int eh 1st International Children's
Festival. She has served the Living Arts Centre as Board of Directors and the
Community Access Grant Committee. Bernice has been an active volunteer in the
Mississauga arts community for many years and has inspired and trained many
young people to practice and appreciate the arts. |
